CDRom Emulator 2.5 was reviewed by PC Utilities Plus magazine in September, 2004, issue 50 and its full version was presented on the covermount CD. While examining the program from the point of its functionality and use the editor made the next conclusion:
"Using the program is easy and you don't need to have a vast knowledge of PCs to do so. Each action of the program uses an easy-to-follow wizard to guide you through the emulation and grabbing process." He also marked convenience in use, by saying: "When you attempt to run the program, instead of believing that it is being run from a hard drive directory, the program thinks it is still on a disc in a CD drive. Not only is this clever, it's also very useful."
CDRom Emulator was marked by Russel Kay, editor of ComputerWorld magazine, as Useful Utility. He explains the necessity of such utility, telling the example from his own experience: "OK, I confess: I'm a solitaire addict. Oh, not the standard Windows solitaire, but a package I bought for $10 at Staples some years ago. The only problem is, it won't run any of its 40 solitaire games unless the CD is in the drive.
Now, because I review computer products, I normally use several different computers each day. And more than once, I've found myself with time to kill while on a trip, and the CD wasn't in the drive. It was in another computer or at home or maybe packed away in my checked luggage - or the laptop didn't even have a built-in CD-ROM drive.
But I've found a $30 answer to that problem, and it's also useful for carrying reference CDs with you. By using Paragon CD Emulator from Paragon Technologie GmbH in Buggingen, Germany, I can create a "virtual" CD drive on my computer, copy a CD image to it and run it anytime from the hard drive. Not only is it more convenient, but it also runs faster."
